EPPD: Man lit meth pipe inside his vehicle in a street lane right next to marked police unit

An El Paso man is accused of attempting to light a methamphetamine pipe while inside his vehicle in a traffic lane right next to a police unit.

Fredrick Brown, 49, is charged “Possession of Marijuana Under Two Ounces” and “Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1.”

Officers assigned to the El Paso Police Department’s Pebble Hills Regional Command Center arrested
and charged a man with over 20 grams of methamphetamine, Friday afternoon.

The arrest was made shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018 on the 6600 block of Montana.

Police said officers were in a marked police vehicle, wearing a police uniform, at a stop light when they noticed Brown inside a white 2018 Ford Fiesta right next to them.

The officers allegedly noticed brown was trying to light the meth pipe and immediately conducted a stop.

An investigation allegedly revealed Brown was in possession of nearly 23 grams of meth and nearly half an ounce of Marijuana.

Brown was also in possession of several clear bulb pipes, police said. Brown was jailed on a $30,000 bond.
