Wanted man arrested for running away from police after he was caught jaywalking

An El Paso man caught jaywalking is being sent to jail for an outstanding warrant in Austin.

34-year-old Julius McRae has been arrested and charged with evading arrest and detention on Tuesday afternoon after he was caught jaywalking.

According to the El Paso Police Depatment, McRae was seen crossing the street without using a crosswalk by officers with the El Paso police Gang unit.

After officers tried to stop him, McRae allegedly fled on foot and led them on a brief pursuit through an apartment complex.

Police learned McRae also had an outstanding parole violation warrant issued out of Austin, Texas.

McRae was eventually book into the El Paso County Jail. His bond for evading arrest is set at $1,500.
