Affidavit: Kids were inside home when man killed wife over alleged infidelity
An El Paso man allegedly confessed to shooting his wife after they argued over alleged infidelity and household responsibilities, a criminal complaint obtained by ABC-7 states.
Police said Jamarr Lenell Birch, 35, shot and killed his wife, 34-year-old Jennifer Birch, just after 4 p.m on the 10300 block of Mackinaw on July 15, 2018.
According to the complaint affidavit, Mr. Birch and his wife were arguing about infidelity and the sharing of household responsibilities. At some point, Mr. Birch left the house and walked to a local convenience store. Later, the victim came to the store to pick up Mr. Birch, and their arguing continued in the car.
Once they were home, Mr. Birch told his children to go to their rooms and, after making sure the kids were in their rooms, he went out to get a gun from his car, the complaint affidavit states.
Mr. Birch came back into the house where he and his wife continued arguing in the kitchen. Mr. Birch told police that his wife yelled racial slurs at him and he then shot her multiple times, the document states.
Mr. Birch then called his mother and told her he shot his wife, and then called 911 and confessed to the shooting, the document further states.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital, where she died from the gunshot wounds, police said. Mr. Birch was charged with Murder and booked into the El Paso County Jail on a Bond of $1,000,000.
