Crooks suspected of using skimmers to swindle thousands of dollars from El Paso ATMs
An estimated $50,000 has been swindled from unsuspecting ATM users in El Paso, according to Crime Stoppers.
A group of suspects allegedly placed skimmers in cash machines allowing them access to personal identification numbers, and the ability to duplicate ATM cards.
One of the suspects was recorded on security video.
Since May, these suspects have been going to various Greater El Paso Credit Union ATMs to steal the money.
One suspect was caught on camera, using a walk-up ATM at the GECU, located at 716 N. Piedras, on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 10:16a.m.
The same suspect was also recorded on Friday, May 4th at 1:49p.m., using a drive up ATM at the GECU located at 1245 Airway, however authorities believe the suspects targeted multiple banks throughout the city.
Anyone with any information on the identity of the man recorded on video or anyone with information on those involved in these thefts is asked to immediately call Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 566-8477(TIPS), or on-line at www.crimestoppersofelpaso.org.
