Teens accused in crime spree involvingvehicle theft

Four teenagers are accused of being involved in a string of crimes involving the theft of a car.

Police reports state that a teenager, who was playing basketball at the Don Haskins Recreation center in West El Paso on June 4, placed his keys on a bench in the center as he played basketball. Later, he discovered that his keys were missing and his car had been stolen.

Princess Perez, 17, along with another female and two males, were seen on surveillance footage from the recreation center walking directly to the bench where the keys to the stolen car had been left, and immediately exiting the recreation center.

The following day, June 5, a Northeast officer on patrol saw a car parked at Johnson Basin Park after hours. When police ran a check of the 2009 Honda Accord, they learned it had been reported stolen the day before.

Perez and Emmanuel Del Moro were booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility, charged with being in a park after hours. The other juveniles were cited and turned over to responsible adults and the other 17 year-old was turned over to the Juvenile Probation Department on a directive to apprehend.

A warrant of arrest for vehicle of theft has been issued for Perez. Theft of vehicle charges were filed on a 16-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy who were already in the custody of the Juvenile Detention Facility on an unrelated matter.
