Hiring fair on Thursday targets the disabled

A hiring fair ahead of the holiday shopping season is being held Thursday and the potential employees that are being targeted are the disabled.

Workforce Solutions Borderplex is hosting the 2018 Retail Hiring Fair, combining it with a disability-friendly hiring fair.

The free fair is being held at the El Paso Zoo’s Pavillion Events Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to everyone.

Workforce Solutions confirmed that 43 retail-oriented employers will attend the event. Job seekers are advised to come dressed to impress and with plenty of copies of their resume for employers to review.

The employment agency is hosting the DisAbility Friendly Hiring Fair in tandem with the Retail Hiring Fair as October is National Disablity Employment Awareness Month.

Their goal is to highlight and educate the area about the campaign to raise awareness about employment issues for disabled individuals, and to celebrate their contributions to the nation’s workforce.
