Down in the dumps: El Paso neighborhood trash service suddenly stopped

Let’s talk some trash. Several East El Paso residents say their garbage was never picked up last week.

The trash has been sitting on the curb for nine days. There are candy wrappers, and food containers. With the trash comes the ants, plenty of them all around the garbage cans.

Many of the bins are filled to the brim in this Northeast El Paso neighborhood. Residents say pick-up is normally on Friday, but it didn’t happen last week.

Hector Gonzalez told ABC 7 he’s frustrated because he said the city has not been responsive to the needs of the residents in this area. He said he just wants the city to remove the stinky garbage on his block.

Hector Gonzalez said, “It’s a health hazard, because not only with the heat and everything, the food is going to stink. But it creates a lot of ants, as you can see probably most of the trash cans.”
