‘The Conners’ cast promises show won’t ‘ignore the past’ after Roseanne Barr’s firing

Roseanne spin-off “The Conners” makes its debut tonight — without matriarch Roseanne Barr.

It was a quick turnaround. The Roseanne re-boot was just canceled in May after Barr sent a racist tweet comparing president Obama’s former senior advisor Valerie Jarrett — to an ape.

“The Conners” spinoff was announced in June and tonight we find out what happened to Roseanne’s character.

“The Conners” cast members Sara Gilbert and John Goodman revealing on GMA the emotional return to the set.

“A lot missing, but you know, we tried to do our best to fill in and just thankful for the opportunity to do it again.”

The spinoff centers around the hard-working Illinois family as a whole.

“I think we all felt we had so many more stories to tell we’ve always been fortunate to represent a working class family on television”

A family redefining itself without its iconic matriarch and hoping to bring laughs and tears through a blue-collar lens.

Cast members say many of the show’s traditions will live on hinting at some crazy Halloween costumes around the corner.

In addition to of course tackling today’s politics with some much needed comedic relief.

You can watch the Conners at 7 P.M. tonight on ABC-7.
