Teaser trailer for film depicting Mexican folk tale hits Internet

Hollywood is trying its hand at telling the Mexican folk story of the crying woman.

A teaser trailer for the film “La Llorona” was released Thursday.

It appears that this is the first time that La Llorona has been the subject of a feature-length film from a major Hollywood studio.

La Llorona is the story of a woman who threw her children into a river in a fit of rage after learning that her husband had another woman and child.

After realizing what she’d done, she drowned herself in the water as well.

Legend goes that the ghost woman cries as she looks for her children, and that she is a threat to kids because she will snatch them and try to kill them, thinking they’re hers.

It can often cause misfortune to those who hear her cries, according to the myth.

La Llorona hits theaters on April 19.
