Ortiz Jones, Valdez make stop in El Paso

Two democratic candidates running for state and federal office are visited El Paso on Tuesday.

Gina Ortiz Jones and Lupe Valdez brought the Fair Shot Bus Tour to the city on the second day of early voting.

The pair discussed issues with voters at the Pavo Real Recreational Center at 9301 Alameda Avenue from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

The rec center is one of the more-than 30 early voting locations around El Paso County.

Ortiz Jones is running for Texas’ 23rd congressional seat, which stretches from San Antonio to far east El Paso County. She faces incumbent Will Hurd.

Valdez is facing the heavily favored incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott.

Early voting ends on Nov. 2. Election Day is Nov. 6.
