Albuquerque police: Man found dead after shooting 3 people

A man suspected of shooting three people Monday night has been found dead, Albuquerque police said.

Authorities identified the suspect as 30-year-old Waid Anthony Melton.

Police said he shot three people at a Ben E. Keith Foods warehouse. They’re all in critical condition, according to officials.

Investigators said he ran away after the shooting, prompting an hours-long search that ended early Tuesday morning.

Investigators haven’t said how Melton died, but revealed he was found near his vehicle in Placitas, New Mexico, which is just a few miles north of Albuquerque.

Authorities said they will have a news conference Tuesday with more information on the shooting.
