Men’s Basketball: UTEP falls on the road at Arizona, 79-46
The UTEP men’s basketball team was blown out on the road at Arizona Wednesday night by a score of 79-46.
Arizona jumped out to an 8-0 lead and never trailed en route to their third win in three games this season.
UTEP has now lost back-to-back games and is 1-2 overall on the year.
Forward Paul Thomas led UTEP with 14 points while Efe Odigie chipped in 13 poInts and 11 rebounds to continue his strong freshman campaign.
But Arizona used two Brandons (Brandon Randolph and Brandon Williams) to simply blow past the Miners. Both Randolph and Williams scored 21 points with Williams adding three steals.
UTEP had a tough night as far as the turnover battle was concerned. The Miners committed 22 turnovers while only forcing Arizona to commit six of their own.
The Miners also only made 33.3% of their field goal attempts (16-48), scoring just 23 points in each half.
UTEP will return home Monday night to face Eastern New Mexico while Arizona turns its attention to a matchup against Iowa State that same night at the Maui Invitational.
