UPDATE: More details of deadly home invasion revealed

UPDATE: Ruidoso police have released more information about a deadly home invasion that happened in October.

According to the publication Ruidoso News, homeowner Michael Schattner, 69, called police to report that he had shot an intruder — but in the process, he also shot his wife in the leg.

When police arrived, police found Emmanuel Chee, 18, of Mescalero, dead in the home.

There was no mention to the Ruidoso News of charges being pressed against Schattner.

Police officers in Ruidoso are investigating a deadly home invasion.

According to the publication Ruidoso News, officers were called at 6:20 a.m. Thursday to investigate a shooting on the 200 block of Country Club Drive, which is off of Sudderth Drive.

Ruidoso Police Department officials said in a news release sent to the Ruidoso News that officers found a woman wounded and a male intruder dead.

The woman is being treated at a hospital in Ruidoso.

Officials said no threat exists to the public, but the investigation is ongoing.
