Coronado volleyball star Campbell Bowden signs with Baylor

Coronado outside hitter Campbell Bowden put together one of the most impressive high school careers you could possibly have.

And now, she’s going to continue her career at the next level with Baylor.

Bowden signed her national letter of intent in front of friends, family, and teammates Tuesday afternoon in a ceremony at Coronado.

After signing her letter of intent, she proclaimed that she wanted to take a picture with everyone in the room to thank them for helping her along this journey.

“You know, support plays a huge role. You can’t do it on your own. It takes a village, as my mom says. So, it just takes everyone to lift you up and do your best, and that’s what I’ve had. I could not have done this all on my own,” she said.

Bowden was named a 2018 Under Armour All-American and recorded a school record 1,920 kills during her career.

Her senior campaign saw her rank in the top eight nationally in all major hitting categories including kill percentage (60%, second nationally) and kills per set (7.3, third nationally).

She was also the MaxPreps National Athlete of the Month in November of 2017.

Although she has a bright future in volleyball, she believes attending Baylor will help her pursue her other aspirations as well.

“I’m hoping to become a dentist, like my father. If not, then a physical therapist, so I can help kids in sports,” said Bowden.

The Thunderbirds went 49-1 in district play in Bowden’s four years with the team, claiming the district crown each season.

They also advanced to the Sweet 16 twice in those four seasons in the class 6A playoffs.
