EPPD: Man fakes kidnapping to cover up for night of binge drinking, drug use

Police say 39 year-old Jorge Parra filed a false kidnapping report as a coverup for his night of binge drinking and drug use in Juarez.

Parra’s wife told police she received a call from her husband saying he had been kidnaped and held against his will.

Detectives say they communicated with Parra in Juarez after Parra said he was released. Police say Parra told an elaborate, but false, story about being kidnaped and forced to take money out of an ATM.

Customs and Border protection held Parra at the border when he tried to come back to El Paso from Juarez as his car was reported stolen. That’s when police say Parra admitted he fabricated the story.

An arrest warrant was filed for false report to a peace officer and Parra was arrested. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail under a $2,000 bond.
