Friday’s winds impact local holiday events
Much of the Borderland woke up to cooler temperatures, windy conditions, and even some light showers. This type of weather has not been good for some local businesses.
H&H Car Wash was closed today due to the morning showers and it’s going to be hard for them to make up for business even as the weather clears up.
“Well we might be a little busier, but you don’t make up for the time you lose. There’s no way it will, but that’s part of the business,” says H&H car wash owner Maynard Haddad.
As for the Friday evening holiday festivities, it is the wind that will be the factor.
Organizers are not as concerned about the lights that are already wrapped up in the trees as they are about larger structures potentially falling over in the high winds this evening. The light show at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is still expected to go on no matter how windy it gets this evening, but we could see some of the other festivities move indoors with the windy evening.
