A father backing out of his driveway on post ran over his one-year-old son, killing him instantly, a source close to the investigation told ABC-7.
An official with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command at Fort Bliss confirmed to ABC-7 the toddler of a military family died in on-post housing.
“At this point in the investigation, all indications are that it was a tragic accident and no foul play is suspected,” said Christopher Grey, Chief of Public Affairs, U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command. “No further information will be released at this time in order to protect the integrity of the investigative process.”
The source told ABC-7 the incident happened Tuesday morning at Fort Bliss.
The El Paso County Medical Examiner’s Office also confirmed to ABC-7 the boy “died instantly,” but could not reveal more information yet.
