Gymboree, retailer with two locations in El Paso, to close stores nationwide

As part of a nationwide shutdown, Gymboree will reportedly be closing two of its stores in El Paso.

The San Francisco company said Wednesday it will close all of its Gymboree and Crazy 8 stores natiowide, and attempt sell its Janie and Jack business, intellectual property and online business.

According to the company’s website, Gymboree has two locations in El Paso, including one at Cielo Vista Mall and another at the Outlet Shoppes at El Paso.

KVIA has called both locations. Any employee at the Cielo Vista location could not comment, and referred us to the corporate media office. ABC-7 has reached out to Gymboree’s parent company for comment.

Gymboree, which began offering classes for mothers and their children in 1976, runs 380 Gymboree stores in the U.S. and Canada. When it first sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in June 2017, it ran 1,300 stores.
