NMSU defeats UMKC for sixth consecutive win

The New Mexico State men’s basketball team has now won six straight WAC contests after defeating UMKC 70-54 at the Pan American Center Thursday night.

NMSU was led by Terrell Brown, who scored 15 points to help the team run its overall record to 17-4 and conference record to 6-1.

The Aggies controlled the game from the tip and never trailed through the duration of the contest.

UMKC fell to 3-4 in the WAC and 8-14 overall on the season with the loss.

The win leaves NMSU tied for first place in the WAC with CSU Bakersfield and Grand Canyon. Those two schools both had the night off but will play each other Saturday.

Meanwhile, NMSU will meet Chicago State on Saturday, which will enter the contest with an 0-7 mark in conference play.

The Aggies played Thursday’s game without forward Ivan Aurrecoechea, who is out indefinitely with a right knee injury that he sustained during a fall after a dunk attempt in NMSU’s game this past Saturday at UTRGV.
