Mayor responds to Trump after ‘Make America Great Again’ rally
El Paso Mayor Dee Margo once again responded to President Trump’s remarks about El Paso’s safety record.
During Trump’s speech inside the El Paso County Coliseum, he said:
“There’s no place better to talk about border security, whether they like it or not because I’ve been hearing a lot of things…’oh, the wall didn’t make that much of a difference. You know where it made a difference? Right here in El Paso.”
“I don’t think whether a mayor is republican or democrat, they’re full of crap when they say it hasn’t made a big difference.”
Monday night, Margo responded once again on Twitter.
“My job as Mayor is to represent El Paso factually and with integrity, correcting any misstatements negatively reflecting our community. I don’t focus on political rhetoric, only facts,” said Margo in a tweet.
For the past week, Margo has appeared on national television to debunk Trump’s comments after he initially said El Paso was one of the nation’s most dangerous cities before a barrier of fence was built.
