Rescue flight taking shelter pets to California

Nearly 90 shelter pets from El Paso are flying to California to hopefully find new homes.

More than 20 dogs and nearly 70 cats will be a part of what’s being dubbed a “rescue flight.”

The flight, organized by El Paso Animal Services and several nonprofit organizations, is leaving from the airport Wednesday morning.

Animal Services officials said in a news release that they are trying to make space to prepare for upcoming peak intake during spring and summer seasons.

Wings of Rescue, Humane Society Silicon Valley and Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation helped organize the flight.

El Pasoans are urged to donate to Wings of Rescue to help fund this El Paso flight and others like them.
