The growing trend of naming an animal after a former love
It appears multiple zoos around the world are letting people get back on former loves that have done them wrong.
The El Paso Zoo has gone viral for its Valentine’s Day enrichment event “Quit Bugging Me” happening Thursday.
Since its announcement of the event, the zoo has received hundreds of names of people’s ex boyfriends and girlfriends. The names will be assigned to cockroaches, then fed to meerkats. You can watch the feeding live on Facebook and the zoo’s website.
The trend of naming animals after exes is growing this Valentine’s Day season.
At the Hemsley Conservation Centre in England, people can donate $2 to name a cockroach after an ex. It does not appear the center will be livestreaming the serving of those cockroaches to any of its animals.
In Oregon, a wildlife center is naming salmon after past loves, for a donation of $20. The salmon will be fed to bears and the center will send you a certificate and photos the bears enjoying the salmon.
For a slightly more sinister approach, a zoo in Sydney, Australia is letting people name venomous snakes after exes for a $1 donation. A snake will be announced as the winner on Thursday.
