Las Cruces City Manager resigns: ‘Time to move in another direction’
ABC-7 confirmed the city manager for Las Cruces, New Mexico, has tendered his resignation.
The ABC-7 New Mexico Mobile Newsroom obtained a letter dated April 22 and written by City Manager Stuart Ed. In it, Ed told Las Cruces City Council, “After much reflection and thought, I have decided it is an opportune time to move in another direction.”
Ed’s resignation takes effect immediately, according to the letter, but he added that he is available “to facilitate a successful transition.”
City Council hired Ed as city manager in October 2016.
ABC-7 also obtained a letter from Mayor Ken Miyagishima, in which he said he was “disappointed that events turned out this way.”
Miyagishima also said that the council will be holding a special meeting on Thursday to appoint Assistant City Manager Bill Studer as acting city manager until a national search is completed.
