EPPD: Man arrested after stealing more than 60 cell phones
Police arrested a man accused of stealing dozens of cell phones from businesses and leading police on a car chase.
Juan Carlos De la Rosa, 35, was charged with two counts of burglary and one count of robbery.
Police said on the morning of April 29, 2019, De la Rosa broke into a Cricket Wireless store at a strip mall located at 9411 Alameda.
During a surveillance operation, police allegedly noticed De la Rosa enter the store through the air-condition duct on the roof. He allegedly made his way through the sheetrock into the store.
De La Rosa then allegedly stole more than 60 cell phones, several phone accessories and drove away.
After police officers followed De la Rosa, he allegedly led officers on a vehcile pursuit. De La Rosa was later arrested four miles away on the 400 block of Lafayette.
Police said De la Rosa is also accused for burglarizing two other stores during the month of April, the Metro PCS at 1120 McRae and another Circket Wireless on the 9800 block of Gateway West.
De la Rosa was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with a bond of more than $96,000.
