New sensory inclusive equipment at Southwest University Park
Southwest University Park is now a sensory inclusive venue after staff received training and equipment to help people with sensory challenges.
T he El Paso Chihuahuas and the El Paso Locomotive FC, has partnered with KultureCity, a nonprofit group that helps train organizations in sensory inclusive techniques.
All full-time event staff went through the training to help identify people who need help. This includes people with autism or PTSD.
MountainStar Sports Group Senior Vice President and General Manager Brad Taylor says ” Sometimes they can find a ballpark or stadium a little overwhelming but we don’t want them to not be able to come and so we have something the sensory bag that can help comfort them give them a moment of relief or quiet time.”
Along with the training, Southwest University Park will now offer sensory bags, equipped with noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, verbal cue cards, and weighted lap pads will be available to all guests at Southwest University Park who may feel overwhelmed by the environment.
These bags can be checked out for free at Guest Services located at Section 112.
Patrons who require a quiet and secure environment are asked to visit Guest Services for the designated location.
