Man charged with resisting arrest outside Ross in Las Cruces

Police charged a man overnight with resisting arrest outside Ross in Las Cruces, according to inmate booking records.

Salvador Favela, 42, faces three charges in total: regulatory parking violations, assault on a peace officer and resisting or obstructing.

Video sent by an ABC-7 viewer shows multiple police officers outside the business on Lohman Avenue.

While Favela was charged with assault on a peace officer, a spokesman for the department clarified that the officer was not injured. That spokesman said the “assault on a peace officer” charge is for a suspect who attempted or threatened to injure an officer. If the officer was injured, the charge would have been “battery on a peace officer.”

Favela was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center, where he is initially being held without bond.
