State Police: Investigators run out of leads in search for missing man

Investigators have no more leads in the case of a missing 73-year-old Las Cruces man.

73-year-old Ted Hamler has been missing since April 27, 2019 and sheriff investigators have exhausted their leads.

Hamler was reported missing by his wife, who said he left the house driving an SUV.

New Mexico State Police helped the Doña Ana County Sheriff with a search and rescue team. His van was found a week ago near the I-10 Corralitos exit west of Las Cruces.

State police searched for three days, but could not find a trace of Hamler.

“We consider a case a cold case when we have no viable leads. We don’t have any viable leads right now, but this is still so new that we couldn’t consider that at this point. We’re hoping that something will turn up,” said Kelly Jameson, with the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office

The sheriff’s office did say although they don’t have more ways to be physically searching right now they are still monitoring for any activity on Mr. Hamler’s part.

If you have any information you’re asked to let the sheriff and police know at any number, including 911 or the Sheriff non-emergency number (575) 525-1911.
