Sunland Park man accused of sexually assaulting child

Police in Sunland Park arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a child in late 2015.

Investigators charged Fernando Motta with First Degree Criminal Sexual Penetration of a Child under 13 and Second Degree Criminal Sexual Contact of a Minor under 13, a criminal complaint states.

Motta was arrested on Monday, April 6, 2019.

The accuser, now a teenager, recently came forward to accuse Motta. She told police Motta sexually assaulted her on two occassions while they were alone. The alleged sexual assault happened at a home on the 100 block of Fielder Court, the criminal complaint states.

During a voluntary interview with detectives, Motta denied the allegations, the court document states.

Online jail records show Motta is initially being held without bond.
