El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame welcomes eight new members Wednesday
The El Paso Athletic Hall of fame now officially has eight new members after the Class of 2019 was honored in a ceremony Wednesday at the EPCC Services Center.
The new class includes athletes, coaches, officials, and broadcasters.
The new members can now find their plaques at the Don Haskins Center next to other local legends whose accomplishments span decades.
A total of 19 hopefuls found their names on the 2019 ballot, but only the following eight can now say they are hall of famers.
Holly Cohen Mata – Franklin and UTEP soccer standout and current CrossFit athlete
Jennifer Delgadillo – Irvin High and UTEP star golfer, former City Women’s Golf champion
Jorge Munoz – Golden Gloves state and national champion amateur boxer
Quincy Dow Farley – Longtime El Paso High state champion swimming coach
Gary Pippen – Recently retired Eastwood head basketball coach and assistant on 1976 state champion team
Duke Keith of KLAQ Radio – Longtime play-by-play broadcaster and current voice of the El Paso Locomotive
Bill Scott – Renowned Big 12 and Mountain West football official and Burges graduate
Eugene “Dez” Desboine – Longtime multi-sport coach at the all-black Douglass School who mentored other legends such as Nolan Richardson
