Chapin softball falls to Little Elm in regional semifinals

Chapin was the last local team standing in the state softball playoffs in Texas, but their run came to an end in the 5A regional semifinals against Little Elm Thursday night in Lubbock.

The Huskies battled bravely against the Lobos but Little Elm would walk away with a 4-2 win to advance to the regional final (Elite 8).

The Huskies surrendered three runs in the first inning but got one back in the bottom half of the inning before both teams settled down.

Neither squad would record a run in the second through sixth innings.

Then, Little Elm tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh to boost their lead to 4-1.

Chapin would manage to get one of the three runs they needed back in the bottom of the seventh, but Little Elm managed to hold off the Huskies keep their playoff run alive.

Chapin was looking to advance to the Elite 8 for just the second time in school history after doing so during the 2017 season.
