Mexican man falls to death after scaling border barrier

Sheriff’s deputies in Doña Ana County are investigating the death of a Mexican national believed to have died while crossing into the U.S. illegally.

The 26-year-old man was found dead at approximately 11 p.m. Sunday night. Investigators tell ABC-7 sensors in the area alerted agents to movement.

According to the U.S. Border Patrol, when agents arrived at the scene, they found the man face-down and unresponsive near the border wall along N.M. 9 at mile marker 142.

Investigators believe the man fell to his death after scaling the border barrier to enter the U.S. illegally.

The investigation is being handled by the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators are working with the Border Patrol and Mexican consulate to notify the man’s family.
