Pedestrian struck by car, killed in Lower Valley El Paso identified
Police have identified a pedestrian who was struck by a car and killed over the weekend in El Paso’s Lower Valley.
Authorities on Monday said the victim was 58 –year old Carlos Alfonso Martinez.
The deadly accident happened around 10 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Yarbrough near Rodeo, just off of Interstate-10.
Traffic investigators said Martinez did not use a crosswalk when he was struck by a car driven by 49 –year old Cecilia Hernandez.
Martinez later died at Del Sol Hospital.
His death was the 35th fatality of the year, compared to 29 last year at this time, according to police data.
