Vegas-style sports book opens within 2-hour drive of El Paso

If you’re looking to place a few bets on your favorite football team before the season kicks off, you can now do so within a two-hour drive of El Paso.

The renowned William Hill Sports Book opened its doors Thursday evening at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort & Casino in Mescalero.

Fans can legally place bets through the Vegas sports book at Mountain Gods, marking a significant partnership within the state of New Mexico.

New Mexico is one of ten active states with legal sports gambling, and Mountain Gods becomes the fourth casino in New Mexico with a sports book.

This is William Hill’s first sports book in New Mexico, and the casino is the first in the southern part of the state.

In partnering with Mountain Gods and the Apache Nation, this is also signifies the first tribal agreement for William Hill.

MMA Fighter Holly Holm was on hand Wednesday evening to help celebrate the grand opening, and she placed the ceremonial first bet.
