Judge orders El Paso city councilman charged with domestic violence to stay away from wife
An El Paso County judge has issued an emergency protective order prohibiting city councilman Sam Morgan from coming near — or having any contact with — his wife following his arrest for a domestic violence incident last week.
The judge’s order also forbids Sam Morgan, who represents District 4 in northeast El Paso, from possessing a gun or other weapons.
Morgan was arrested on a domestic violence charge last Friday and was released from jail after posting a $3,000 bond.
His lawyer said Morgan has been cooperating fully with police investigating the incident and plans to continue with his normal council duties.
