ANTHONY, New Mexico -- A semi-truck was blown over by high winds and into a guardrail along NM 213 near Anthony on Friday evening, forcing the closure of the highway for a few hours.
The crash happened at NM 213 northbound at mile-post 1, according to the New Mexico Department of Transportation which advised of the road closure about 6:30 p.m.
There was no immediate word as to whether the truck driver was injured in the mishap.
Until the highway reopened around 8:45 p.m., northbound traffic was diverted to Stan Roberts Road through Chaparral to Lisa Drive and then to the Anthony Gap, causing travel delays.

Thousands of El Paso Electric customers in the Las Cruces and El Paso areas also lost power at one point in the evening due to those powerful wind gusts.
