LCPS saves over $100,000 holding graduations at Field of Dreams
LAS CRUCES, New Mexico- Las Cruces Public School officials tell ABC-7 they are saving over $100,000 having their graduations at the Field of Dreams.
The Field of Dreams is a multiple sports complex with stands and audio equipment much like the Socorro Activities Complex.
The LCPS Director of Communications, Kelly Jameson, explained to ABC-7 that due to the pandemic in 2020 the Pan Am Center was unavailable for graduation ceremonies, so they were held a "drive-by ceremony" at the Field of Dreams.
"The students enjoyed it. The sunshine was really nice and so this year we decided to make it permanent," Jameson shared.
ABC-7 reached out to other area school districts for a comment regarding LCPS's success.
An official with EPISD, Gustavo Reveles told ABC-7 that it is more cost-efficient for their district to rent out the Haskins Center due to the amount it would cost in renting all of the equipment necessary for the graduations at the multiple high schools.
