Shots fired near Mauro Rosas Park; Socorro PD says no immediate public threat
EL PASO, Texas – Socorro police say two people were seen by Mauro Rosas Park carrying assault rifles and reportedly fired multiple rounds.
Police say it happened around 1:30 p.m., and the two individuals ran off. Socorro Police are working with schools to provide updates on public safety.
According to the Socorro Independent School District, no lockdowns were ordered. Schools were placed under a Secure Safety protocol as a precaution. Classes continued as normal and were dismissed as normal.
According to Socorro PD, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been located.
