UTEP graduate wins state TSPE award

EL PASO, Texas- The Texas Society of Professional Engineers nominated Daniel Carrera as their Texas Young Engineer.

Carrera, who is a Franklin High School graduate, also received degrees from EPCC and Texas Tech before finishing at UTEP.

He told ABC-7 that the award has not been given to an El Pasoan in 26 years.

“To have someone from El Paso, from here, from UTEP to win that award.  We are often forgotten about.  We are often thought of after cities like Houston, Dallas, San Antonio.  So it’s good to have that representation.”

With the state win in the bag he is automatically nominated for the National Society of  Professional Young Engineers Award which will be announced in February of 2023,
