Fact or myth? Can missing gas caps lead to evaporation of gas

EL PASO, Texas - Raising prices are being felt by everyone across the country. Groceries, bills, and of course, gas prices have skyrocketed in the past several months.

According to AAA, the national average for regular gas is $5.009 a gallon. In El Paso County, the average price for a gallon of gas is $4.82.

Do missing gas caps actually allow evaporation of the gas inside your tank? Are missing gas caps the reason you are losing extra money out of your pockets?

ABC-7 will speak with a mechanic to find out all the answers and to see if evaporating gas due to no gas cap is a fact or a myth.
