El Pasoans try to get lucky ahead of the $1.9 billion dollar jackpot drawing

EL PASO, Texas -- Monday night's jackpot is breaking records. It is the highest prize for Powerball ever. The Jackpot is worth 1.9 billion dollars.

Monday's jackpot replaced the previous record. That was just under 1.6 billion dollars and was won on January 13, 2016.

The record-breaking jackpot brought out skeptics to test their luck.

All who agreed though chances are slim, they're still large enough to give today's lottery a try.

"No, not that much, but because it's so big, I go, wow, let me try let's see what happens said Richard, an El Pasoan.

With luck in the air, some El Pasoans are going the extra mile to garnish more luck for the Monday night's jackpot.

Cool Arrow's is a spiritual store that offers botanicals and tarots. They sell candles, rocks, books, and incense, as well as dry leaves to promote spiritual well-being for the mind and body.

The owner says since the Powerball jackpot has been increasing, they've also seen the number of customers at their store go up.

They said people going in are asking for help winning the Powerball drawing tonight.

Their most popular candles at the moment are called Attract money, Double luck, Fast luck, and Good luck. The increase in sales doesn't come as a shock to the owners.

"Because people believe in getting a chance of that big jackpot, you know. It does happen a lot. We get a lot of random customers, even new customers coming in looking for stuff," Natali Carrillo, Cool Arrows.

Monday night's drawing is at 9 p.m.
