Election officials combating voter intimidation
EL PASO, Texas - As you head to the polls for Election Day tomorrow you want to feel safe and not intimidated.
Voter intimidation refers to intimidating or threatening another person to interfere with their right to vote for the candidate of their choice. Voter intimidation is a federal crime punishable by a fine, and up to one year of imprisonment.
Voter harassment may include gathering around ballot drop boxes questioning voters, brandishing weapons, taking pictures of people voting, and following or chasing voters who are attempting to drop off their ballots. It can all be considered voter intimidation.
Voter intimidation laws were implemented to ensure the fairness and integrity of our elections and your right to vote.
