City of El Paso working with DOJ to investigate 176 vehicles of service members allegedly impounded and auctioned

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The City of El Paso announced Tuesday that it has been working with the Department of Justice to investigate the company for allegedly impounding and auctioning 176 vehicles owned by service members, a violation of the Servicemembers' Civil Relief Act.

The City says it began conducting its own investigation with the El Paso Police Department and Internal Auditor into United Road Towing Inc.

With the approval of City Council, the city says it entered several agreements with the DOJ in October of 2022 that suspends the statute of limitations to allow the city to complete its investigations.
