Las Cruces veteran receives much-needed care

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KVIA) - A veteran who told Sen. Martin Heinrich for help 3 months ago during a visit to Las Cruces, says he is doing much better.

Todd lived at an apartment building for veterans transitioning off homelessness. At the time, he had sores on his body and said he was having a difficult time accessing the care he needed.

Sen. Heinrich promised to help him, so we followed up to find out if he in fact had.

We learned that while the senator's office was not able to offer direct help to Todd, they did contact Mesilla Valley Community of Hope, which provided care for Todd, to make sure he had what he needed.

Todd told ABC-7 he is now doing much better, and working during the day as a laborer.
