35 test positive for Covid-19 after CDC annual conference

MGN

ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating a Covid-19 outbreak-- from its own annual conference.

A total of 35 cases have been linked to last week's conference in Atlanta.

The CDC said it's working with the Georgia Department of Health to conduct a rapid assessment of cases that appear to be connected to the conference.

They're working to determine the transmission patterns.

This was the first in-person CDC conference in four years.

According to The Washington Post-- attendees said many people at the conference did not mask or socially distance--precautions the CDC had recommended during the pandemic.

The federal government has been winding down its response to the pandemic.

The official public health emergency is set to end next week.
