Migrants encouraged to turn themselves into border agents for processing

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Border officials are stepping up enforcement between the El Paso and Ciudad Juárez border.

Tuesday morning, ABC-7 saw agents with CBP and ICE handing out fliers to migrants in Segundo Barrio. The fliers encourage migrants to submit to border agents and follow protocols intended to manage migration.

They encouraged those who entered legally who are seeking assistance to find shelter with non-profits, as well as at city and county facilities.

Migrants who entered illegally were asked to turn themselves in to officials at 1101 Oregon Street, so they can be processed properly.

May migrants gathered near Sacred Heart Church in Segundo Barrio told ABC-7 they are hesitant to turn themselves in, fearful that if they do so they will be deported.
