SANTA FE, New Mexico (KVIA) -- The New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is warning of a statewide threat against schools.

Officials say a student in Roswell received a message on social media that threatened an attack on the student's school. Other students at districts across New Mexico received the same message.

Law enforcement in Roswell has increased security at schools there. DHSEM says it is working with local law enforcement and the FBI to figure out who is sending the threats, which are currently considered not credible.

Officials say the New Mexico Public Education Department is also involved in the coordinated response to this threat.
