El Paso Police arrest alleged shooter of off-duty border patrol agent outside eastside Mexican food restaurant
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) - El Paso police said Wednesday they arrested Brandon Jacob Perez, 17, after an investigation into this weekend's shooting at an East El Paso Mexican food restaurant.
It happened at the Viscount Village Shopping Center, in the parking lot of the restaurant.
Crimes Against Persons detectives say they arrested Perez with the help of the Special Weapons and Tactics unit.
Perez faces aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges and was booked into the El Paso County Jail on at $150,000 bond, where he remains locked up, according to jail records.
The shooting took place just after 2:45 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Police responded to a shooting at El Cometa, the investigation revealed two men got into a fight outside the restaurant in the parking lot.
That's when Perez allegedly shot 38-year-old Matthew Ross, according to police.
Ross was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
