Juarez police save 11-month-old kidnapped in El Paso

JUAREZ, Chihuahua (KVIA) — The Juarez Police Department found the El Paso baby that was reported missing in an AMBER alert Wednesday afternoon.

Officers arrested his father, identified as 19-year-old Ariel Gustavo L., for allegedly stealing the baby's mother's car in El Paso and bringing it over the border.

After El Paso authorities issued that alert, they warned that the car may have crossed into Juarez. That is when Juarez law enforcement officials started looking around town to find the baby.

The 11-month-old baby, Amir, was recovered after Juarez Police stopped the stolen 2014 Dodge Avenger.

Chihuahua’s Attorney General’s office will now oversee the investigation.

The baby was transferred to the 'Estación de Policía del Distrito Universidad' in South Juarez. ABC-7 is working to find out when the baby will be reunited with its mother.
