City Council approves construction of $80 million amphitheater in Northeast El Paso
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- City of El Paso leaders announced Tuesday morning the construction of an $80 million amphitheater in Northeast El Paso.
It will be called Sunset Amphtheater and it's set to be build at the corner of US 54 and Cohen Ave. That is the former site of Cohen Stadium, which was demolished in 2019.
City council approved the public-private partnership with the music venue company Notes Live. City council approved a $30.9 million performance-based incentive agreement that officials said could generate a $5.4 Billion impact for El Paso.
The city said the agreement will allow Notes Live to build a 12,500-capacity amphitheater overlooking the Franklin Mountains.
The venue's construction is projected to begin August 2024 and it's estimated to have a grand opening during the touring season of 2026.
Today, the City Council approved a $30.6 million performance-based incentive agreement that has the potential to generate a $5.4 Billion impact for the El Paso community. The facility, called the Sunset Amphitheater, will provide elevated hospitality, top tier audio-visual capabilities, premium food and drink offerings and put El Paso on the map as a prime touring destination for the biggest national and international acts travelling the Southern U.S. and Northern Mexico region.
The agreement will allow Notes Live to build a 12,500-capacity amphitheater in Northeast El Paso, overlooking the Franklin Mountains. Venue construction is projected to begin August 2024 and the estimated grand opening of the venue is during the touring season of 2026.
