2 dead, 1 injured in a shooting near Kentucky courthouse, suspect shoots self after police standoff

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (AP) — A mother and daughter have been fatally shot and another man injured near a Kentucky courthouse. The gunman later shot himself after a police highway pursuit on Monday. Police in Elizabethtown say Christopher Elder was in critical condition after shooting himself. Thirty-seven-year-old Erica Riley is one of the victims and had attended a court hearing with Elder Monday morning before the shooting. Police say the two had been in a relationship. Riley’s mother was also fatally shot. Seventy-one-year-old Janet Riley of Hardinsburg died after being transported to a hospital. A third victim was in stable condition Monday afternoon.
